Teaching in Singapore
For students studying in Singapore, sometimes it is not clear where their education links are in the Singapore education system. In order to make Singapore students clear their current learning stage and the direction of their future study, the Singapore education system is briefly introduced for all Singaporean students.
The basic education in Singapore's education system consists of primary school, middle school, junior college and craft education college.
Primary school (6 year): Singapore primary school grade six students need to participate in the primary school entrance examination (PSLE) to secondary school, the subjects are English, Chinese, mathematics and science.
Secondary school: 4 year system (special and quick class), fourth years must participate in the national unified Singapore O proficiency test, the results will determine high school, junior college and polytechnic.
Secondary school (5 year): 5 years (academic and technical), academic class students in the middle of four must participate in the "N" proficiency test, after passing up in the middle of five to participate in the Singapore O proficiency test. The students of class two technology subjects, English and mathematics, fourth years in the Cambridge N level examination, most of the students are no longer taking fifth year course in N level examination, and go directly to the Institute of technology.
Junior College (2 year): pass the Singapore A proficiency test diploma, the results will determine the whereabouts of the university.
School of Arts and education: a comprehensive technical institute owned by the government of Singapore. It provides secondary vocational skills and experience to secondary school graduates. It is a two-year course. Students with outstanding achievements in Arts and crafts education can be promoted to polytechnics.
Higher education in Singapore
Higher education in Singapore consists mainly of Polytechnics, universities, and private universities.
The education system in Singapore needs to know that the direction of learning should be clear
Institute of Technology (3 years): Singapore five Polytechnic College diploma courses, mainly in nearly 200 professional courses in science and engineering applications, including the theory and practice, after graduation can be directly apply for employment or Singapore public university.
Private universities (3 years): private universities in Singapore, also known as private colleges, offer two courses: preparatory courses, diplomas, and degrees. Among them, the degree programs are issued by foreign universities to cooperate with the foreign university diploma.
Public universities (3/4): in addition to the medical, law and other specialties, universities generally require 3 years to obtain a bachelor's degree, an honorary degree of 4 years. After completing the bachelor's degree, the student may continue to pursue his master's degree, doctor's degree or other.
