The University of Waikato is excited to be joining the top 300 universities in 

the world, claiming its new ranking spot at #292 as assessed in the QS World 

University Rankings released today www.topuniversities.com.

With the release of this year’s global rankings, the University of Waikato is 

now counted among the top 1.1% of universities in the world, the latest step in 

a remarkable story that has seen the university climb the rankings by more than 

100 places in the last four years.

Since 2013, the University of Waikato has moved from the 401 – 410 band to now 

be ranked #292 in the world. The jump from #324 to #292 is the largest move of 

any of the New Zealand universities, and is testament to the university’s 

dedication to improvement and positive change.
